The Rain Forest Park is the remnant of the Amazon basin. By 2102 it was 27000 square miles.

The Brazilian Rain Forest Preservation Agency again rezoned the Park to permit more development in the region, and would reduce it to 23,500 square miles, as reported by Tempo du Brasilia.

Environmental groups around the world protest the developments. According to the Green Coalition, species loss in the remnant had accelerated so that preservation in it was not a realistic option any more.
