The third planet orbiting the Kaduna star, spectral class F. It has toxic atmosphere and 1.5G gravity.
The Heechee had installed a Shield Generator to blind the Watchtower outpost. The area around which has grown a dangerous jungle full of lethal anemones, giant spiders (The anemones evade the ichor of the spider), a gigantic octopus in a swamp and pterosaurs of equal size roaming the sky, feeding on gnawing worms. Huge rats who avoid the smell of pods; rats are killed by a spikeball plant and snakes. There are also giant snakes and pufferslugs.
In the Spikeball Field there is a spikeball guarding the shield tower.
The Gateway protagonist landed at a Jungle Clearing near a pod tree. He shoots the spider twice and with its ichor he could go past the anemones. Throwing a worm into the swamp caused one of the pterosaurs kill the octopus, which he used as a bridge. Feeding a rat to a snake allows access to the Tower.
In 2112 a group of fanatics allegedly belonging to the Phoenix Sect stole a Heechee ship from Gateway, loaded a fusion weapon on board and came to the planet attempting to destroy the generator. The resulting explosion dug a crater nearly a km deep but no damage was done to the generator. The fanatics surrendered to authorities.
