Close-In Combat System or CICS serves as a weapon system of last resort if any enemy drones or long range weapons penetrate the defensive screen of RC09 Basilisk drones.

On USS Lexington, the CICS consists of

  • 8 missile launchers,
  • 2 railgun turrets,
  • several chaff ejectors mounted on various points of Lexington's outer hull.

It can effectively protect the ship from an attack by up to two UN Gali Class battle drones or any ship under direct human command, from a one-man fighter to a battleship. However it is not highly effective against drones. The lasers, railguns and missiles are capable of intercepting and destroying enemy missiles and drones given enough time, but (as in the case of one Tavek class drone) usually exceeds the time available during an attack.
